If you are one of our happy planners celebrating the return of our Miss Maker collection or you’re a consummate crafter who LOVES the D.I.Y. themes -- we’re just as excited as you! Maybe you’ve purchased your treasured planner, notebook, sticker pack and accessories but you’re not sure where to begin. That’s why we’re here and ready to help you plan your best life with bbalteschule’s Miss Maker Collection

Miss Maker may be a craft-centric collection, but it can be used for planning projects, day-to-day, and any work related tasks too! The nostalgic artwork calls back to traditional bbalteschule products and features painting embroidery, sewing, crochet/knitting, and many more craft elements in the artwork. Let’s start planning!

CHOOSE YOUR PLANNER & STICKER PACK

We’re using the 2024 Miss Maker bbalteschule - Big Checklist Layout - 12 Months. Our Big size has the most room to plan and express your creativity! And as planners, we love a checklist. We’ll use our Miss Maker - Value Pack Stickers – Big as the complementary sticker pack to get organized and get crafty with our layouts. There’s no one right way to use a checklist layout, but we’ll offer a couple of ways you can utilize it!

For planners who prefer a more traditional and compact layout, we also have our 2024 Miss Maker bbalteschule - Mini Dashboard Layout - 12 Months. Toss it in your purse and plan on-the-go when and wherever you like (don’t forget a Mini Sticker Pack to go along with it)!

ADD FUNCTION WITH STENCILS & STICKERS

Explore the versatility of the vertical boxes in the checklist layout! Here are two ways you can go about using your planner for crafting and your daily life!

Option 1: Use the vertical boxes to reflect the three different areas of focus in your planning. Starting from the top, label all three boxes with blank flag stickers or find the same shape in our Miss Maker - Snap-In Journaling Stencil Bookmarks - 3 Pack. We're using the labels: Projects, Hourly Schedule, Home & Office. Add the DIY project stickers to the dot grid section for all your planned crafts. Use the bottom boxes (your Home/Office section) for big picture to-dos, then use the checklist box to put a specific time to each task throughout the day.

Use the “crafty ideas” stickers in the grid section on the far left for any spur-of-the-moment inspiration. Need more hours in the day? Leave the bottom box blank, break out the stencil again, and add as many extra lines check boxes as is necessary!

Option 2: This idea uses the checklist box for setting weekly goals in separate categories. Label each of the 7 boxes after different areas of your to-do list. For example: Errands, House, Work, Shopping List, Call/Emails etc. Check them off throughout the week as you go and use the dot grid and bottom boxes for decoration, quick notes, or ideas as they pop into your mind!

Use the far left column of the spread to stencil in some bullets and list out main priorities for the week. Adding blank boxes stickers to the dot grid boxes is another great way designate a spot for notes and thoughts.

DECORATE YOUR SPREAD

Now’s your time to SHINE. You’re always welcome to use your own artistic flair and draw your own designs, but if you need a little help our stencils also have accent lines and a variety of icons to add to your pages. Depending on how you’ve chosen to section off your checklist section, use the top and bottom boxes and unleash your inner sticker queen. You can either keep it simple or use up all available space with crafting accents.

We love the idea of letting the stickers float into the margins or outside the lines. Layer your stickers to add a little extra dimension. You can even overlay the checklist boxes with bbalteschule disc stickers! And don’t forget colorful strips of washi tape

We’re beyond thrilled to welcome back Miss Maker and we hope you’ve enjoyed this quick tutorial and feel inspired to get your organization on! If you have any suggestions, or outside-the-box ideas on how to best utilize this creative collection, share with us on socials @the_happy_planner!

Happy crafting!

https://bbalteschule.com/blogs/inspiration/how-to-use-stickers-with-an-undated-planner 2023-02-10T11:19:43-08:00 2023-02-23T15:26:12-08:00 HOW TO USE STICKERS WITH AN UNDATED PLANNER Cherise Bottorf Ever been considering an undated planner, but you’re not sure where to start? As always, we have some ideas for you! If you’re new to bbalteschule and perusing your options, you may have noticed that our planners come in two varieties: dated and undated. Dated planners have all the dates, holidays, and months filled in for you to start your planning ASAP. Undated planners allow the most room for creativity and can be started at any time during the year! You pick the beginning and end date.

But don’t let the amount of freedom that undated planners have overwhelm you! You just need to find a good place to start and see what works for you. By design, each one of our sticker packs are created to work with our products. They come in especially handy for the undated variety. The possibilities are endless!

ADDING FUNCTION AND CUSTOMIZATION

Undated planners are essentially a blank slate. They’re perfect for starting sometime in the year that would fall between the dates of our dated planners. Let’s say you're planning for April 2023-March 2024, our Undated Bright & Fun bbalteschule offers a vertical layout with daily boxes from top to bottom just waiting to be dated!

You have a couple options, either date your spreads by hand, maybe practice your hand-lettering, or use a sticker pack like our Essential Dates and Numbers Value Sticker Pack made exactly for this purpose! Titles for each month, dates, and colorful boxes for notes are all included! Creatively call out major holidays with our Essential Holidays Value Sticker Pack

Want more than 12 months to plan? Use an extension pack to stretch the life of your planner by at least 4 months! Extension packs may also include snap-in accessories and more stickers. And who doesn’t love more stickers?

MAKING YOUR PLANNER YOUR OWN

Make your planner your unique to you and choose a sticker pack that suits your style. Some of our sticker lovers prefer a vertical layout, and it allows plenty of room for personalization! You can even dedicate this planner to a particular theme or subject depending on the sticker pack you select.

If you’re looking to focus on your mindfulness and wellness journey our Mood + Mindfulness Value Sticker Pack includes focuses, self-care reminders, and mood trackers that fit perfectly into a vertical spread. Make it all about budgeting with our Bright Retro Budget Value Sticker Pack. Track weekly spending, add reminders when bills are due, and mark paydays.

If you’re an educator looking for a lesson planning tool, we have undated planners and sticker packs dedicated to your teaching duties. No matter when your school year starts, an undated planner will work with your schedule!

We hope this has given you a good starting point for beginning your year with an undated planner. Choose your sticker pack and make it completely your own! We love to see your creativity shine. If you decide to jump in and get started with an undated planner, share your journey with us on social @the_happy_planner! You might have a unique idea we haven’t seen yet. 😁

As a planner, it can be stressful to think about the upcoming holiday season and all of the goings-on that come with it! Visiting family, gift exchanges, baking, cooking, and shopping! So much to do and only a matter of months to enjoy all of it. What started out as thrilling can easily become completely overwhelming. We invite you to take a moment, sit back, and let us offer some advice for what’s sure to be the busiest time of year for many of you. We’ve been there too!

1. SET GIFTING GOALS

Gifts can become a major focal point of the holidays so it’s important to put a great deal of time and consideration into thinking about how to present your presents. However, it doesn’t have to take the joy out of giving!

Making a gift list is fairly simple. Taking your list one step further and organizing it to your liking will make it easier on you in the long run. Try categorizing your list by priority (is the gift for a friend, family member, or coworker), method of purchase (online, or in-store), size (stocking stuffer or some assembly required). Creating a timeline for when your treasures should be purchased will also help with calculating shipping times. Delays would be one less thing to worry about!

Be Happy Box - Feelin' Festive

2. SET A BUDGET

We touched on budgeting in our blog post 10 TIPS TO BUDGET BETTER FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON earlier this season and it’s made the list once again! Because finances are so closely tied to this time of year, it helps to carefully plan where your money is going. No one wants to start off a new year with money woes (if it can be helped)!

Set yourself up for success with a budget for each area where you see yourself spending outside your usual limits this season: gifting, social gatherings, travel, cooking and baking, décor etc. Make sure you factor in some wiggle room for unexpected or emergency purchases. You’ll be glad you did!

3. CREATE A RELAXATION STATION

No matter how much you plan ahead, there may come a moment when it’s time to take a step back and relax. Be ready with a designated safe space where you can go and reconnect with YOU. Breathe in and out... and get back at it when you’re ready.

Create a corner of your home where you can go and indulge in some self-care. Throw some extra pillows on your bed and settle down for a quick nap or turn your bathroom into an oasis with bath salts and scented candles. Maybe even stop by your favorite coffee shop! It might help to be preemptive and schedule a time each week (or day) to step into your happy place and regroup.

4. TRY A DIFFERENT APPROACH

Do you have some holiday to-dos on your “not so fun” list? For example, sending out cards, decorating your home, cooking for a large gathering, preparing for visiting relatives? It might help to try a different approach. We are creatures of habit, a fresh take on an old to-do might help change your perspective and make it less of a chore.

If you’re someone who is used to doing most of the heavy lifting, it never hurts to delegate. Choose a member of the family (or a friend) who can assist you with the one thing you know needs to get done, but you’re less than enthused to begin. If cards are a major worry – try going digital this year and see how it’s received. Maybe keep the décor minimalist this year if you’re used to going all out! Sometimes less is more.

5. BE REALISTIC

As hard as it is to say during the buzz of the season: Don’t try to do too much. It’s easy to get swept away with all of the excitement that leads up to the BIG day, remember to be adaptable! Not expecting too much of yourself might help you relax and go with the flow. After all, this time of year is all about making memories you’ll cherish for years to come

Perhaps a holiday gathering doesn’t go quite as planned, the cookies don’t rise when you spent all day trying to make a homemade batch, or you’ve (once again) been asked to plan the holiday party at work when you don’t have time. Don’t forget: sometimes a mistake makes a great story, a run to the store for a replacement dessert isn’t a crime, and you can always say NO if something is thrown on your plate that is just too much to handle at the time

You might be a superhero or you might be like many of us who just want to do our best and stay cheerful during a favorite time of year. Either way, how you do the holidays is up to you! However you choose to celebrate this season, we hope it’s stress-free and exactly how you hoped it would be! If you end up applying any of the above to your holiday routine, make sure to share it with us on our socials @the_happy_planner

Merry Planning!

All sorts of stressors arise during the holiday season. That doesn’t have to include your finances! Putting a spending plan in place with our Budget Collection in your monthly planner is a great way to set goals when it comes to gifting and prioritizing any run-of-the-mill or emergency expenses.

Our line of cost tracking tools for your journal planner allow you to pick a starting point and move forward in the direction of your choosing! Whether you want to start slow by simply tracking expenses, or dive into the deep-end with an entire master money plan, we have what you’ll need to get fiscally fit during this busy time! So grab your 2022 planner, and let’s get started!

HOW TO: STRATEGIZE YOUR HOLIDAY SPENDING

We know deciding where to start can be a challenge. So, we’ve compiled a list of 10 helpful tips that will work well with any of the tools in our budgeting collection.

1. START STRATEGIZING EARLY

It’s never too early to look ahead. And if you’re a bbalteschule then it's a whole mood. Even if you haven’t been able to start as early as you’d like, now is the perfect time. We have planners specifically designed to help you budget, or if you already have your fave bbalteschule standing by, a simple way to begin might be an accessory book. Use the stickers and weekly spending sticky notes in any pre-existing planner or notebook!

2. REVIEW LAST YEAR’S SPENDING

Start fresh by looking back and seeing where you were this time last year, and plan accordingly. Decide if you’re able to spend more, hoping to spend less or break even. Did you make any notes in last year’s bbalteschule? If not, there’s nothing wrong with grabbing some expense tracking filler paper and reviewing your online accounts to get a good idea of what your holiday costs looked like the year prior!

3. MAKE A LIST (CHECK IT TWICE)

Making a holiday shopping list (not just for gifts) will help you see the bigger picture and decide where your hard-earned cash should go. Making separate gift, occasion, and meal lists might help to compartmentalize and strategize. You can also use these lists to track your purchases later on!

4. DETERMINE YOUR PRIORITIES

You have your list and maybe it’s seeming like a bit much. Don’t worry! This is why it’s important to set aside time to ask yourself: “What are the most important parts?” Cut-out or shift anything that isn’t a “must” from your list. Use our budget specific stickers to categorize or call attention to certain items!

5. PLAN FOR OTHER EXPENSES

Give yourself some wiggle room. Don’t forget the everyday or the extra costs that might arise during the holiday season. Remind yourself to factor in travel, those pesky replacement bulbs, cards, gift wrapping supplies, etc. Keeping a stash of extra cash in some snap-in envelopes might be a great solution!

6. PRICE CHECK

You're on the move and making your way down your carefully curated list(s). Taking the additional time for price comparisons will make a world of difference. You can easily make notes next to any item with our fill in budget stickers. Keep your pricing all in one place!

7. TRACK YOUR SPENDING

You’ve made your price comparisons, now you’re pulling the plug and making purchases! Stay in sync with the goals you’ve set for yourself with a set of our budget specific filler paper. Keep those general expenses on your mind while you tally your buys week to week.

8. CUT BACK ON IMPULSE SHOPPING & SPENDING

Maybe there’s always a little voice in the back of your head saying, “Why not?” Normally, we’re all about a little splurging here and there -- but if you’re trying to manage that budget, now might not be the best time. Keep your eye on the prize and stay focused. If you need assistance why not revisit last year’s blog about setting goals for the new year?

9. CONSIDER CRAFTING PRESENTS

If you’re a bbalteschule, then chances are you’ve got some craftiness in you. So, why not put your skills to use and save with homemade gifts? You can even use your gift list to note the types of presents you’re planning for each recipient. For inspiration, stop by and see the wide variety of Happy Crafts we offer. It helps to have a starting point!

10. SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS

Give yourself a head start on next year, track your spending as you go, and save your receipts! Even if you fall behind with all the buzz of the holidays, stashing your receipts somewhere safe will help when you find the time to return and update your checkbook. A planner companion could be a great personal assistant for the busy budgeter. Folders, snap-in envelopes, and a handy pouch are all included. All perfect storage solutions for loose paperwork.

Are you ready? Get set, budget! We hope this brief tutorial gave you some great ideas for tracking your costs and keeping those expenses in check during the holidays. If you end up putting any of the above into practice, please share it with us on social @the_happy_planner!

WHY START JOURNALING?

We all get caught up in the hectic nature of everyday life. We’re constantly on the run and trying to keep up with all our tasks and to-dos. With so many things competing for our attention, we often lose sight of what’s important. One of our favorite ways to combat these feelings is through journaling!

Journaling is a great way to help you unpack and wind down. Keeping yourself in check with your moods, habits, feelings, and emotions will help you appreciate beautiful things in life and allow you to live your truest, happiest selves.

As planners, we are no strangers to putting a pen to paper. Planning and staying motivated is always important to us but we need to prioritize wellness by taking a moment of peace for ourselves. Adding journaling into your daily routine has proven benefits to help manage anxiety, depression, and the unpredictability of life.

HOW TO START JOURNALING FOR BEGINNERS:

1. Find the journaling notebook for you.

If you’re not free flowing with your thoughts, sometimes it is easiest to have some guidance. Our guided journals have prompts to help you start writing. Find one that fits your style, caters to your needs, or just makes you happy.

2. Plan designated times to write.

AM WRITERS: Start off your morning with a cup of coffee or tea and manifest good things for the day. Begin each busy day by nurturing your soul and setting your goals and priorities to help you focus.

PM WRITERS: While not everyone is a morning person, the night owl life also works well for journaling. After a long, stressful day it’s nice to unwind and reflect. Write about something that made you smile or maybe you were grateful for an act of kindness.

Find a time that works for you! Getting started can simply mean writing down one thing that made you happy that day.

3. Not into prompts? Find a blank journaling notebook and make a list!

If the idea of writing feels overwhelming, start out with lists. A very helpful list to manage anxiety is a can/cannot list. When you are feeling worried, writing these feelings out helps you rationalize your thoughts and expel negative energy that does not serve you.

Examples:

I can control...

  • How I handle a situation
  • How I treat other people
  • My thoughts, words, and how that affects those around me

I cannot control...

  • What other people say
  • How other people feel
  • Things that happened in the past

You can use this exercise to help think through stressful situations like a trip not going your way or times at work or school that make you frustrated. Try this out the next time you are feeling overwhelmed!

4. Stay consistent!

Just like any habit, consistency is key. Whether you choose to journal monthly, weekly, or daily, set reminders to write. Setting yourself up for success relies on creating routines. Choose what works best for you. That could mean carving out time in your day or reaching for your journal during times you feel stressed. Your journal is here to serve you, so just remember it is there when you need it.

https://bbalteschule.com/blogs/inspiration/how-to-use-your-memory-keeping-photo-journal 2022-08-04T17:16:36-07:00 2023-03-10T17:06:04-08:00 HOW TO: USE YOUR MEMORY KEEPING PHOTO JOURNAL Cherise Bottorf

Make your memories last with our collection of guided photo journals, stickers, and scrapbook accessories.

This year, we’ve taken a new approach to scrapbooking with our Summer Memory Keeping Collection. We’ve introduced a new line of guided photo journals which takes Memory Keeping to the next level. It’s not a planner like we’ve done in the past, it’s a photo journal all on its own. These are perfect for those who want to capture memories but also want some guidance and inspiration on how to start.

Our photo journals have 80 pre-printed template pages with 20 different designs. They include guidelines for different photo sizing so there’s no guessing games! Use the additional space to write down your memories and add in the stickers to decorate. With 4 unlabeled dividers, you have the freedom to categorize moments by dates, by kids, seasons, or for special occasions.

Along with our new photo journals, we’ve also added more Value Pack Sticker Books that were made for scrapbooking. Use the trims, add quotes, or simply decorate your pages to fit your themes. Customize by adding other accessories like discs to step up your Memory Keeping game!

We're sharing some tips on how to get organized and start your journals!

GETTING ORGANIZED

I use my phone to do all my memory planning. I have to keep things easy! If there are too many obstacles, you won’t do it!

  1. Create an Album: Organize what you want to put in your guided photo journal into a folder/album on your phone. I create a memory planning album and delete items as I print.
  2. Build a Collage: Every week I use a collage app to print items for my journal. You can do this anywhere. Whether waiting in line, sitting on the couch...whenever you have some free time!
  3. Get Your Printer Ready: I have my printer stocked with matte photo paper so I can print from my phone wirelessly at any time.
  4. Ready for Memory Planning: Once printed, if I am not ready to memory plan, I add the date to the pack of each photo. Then put it in an envelope and put it in your photo journal. I also add any memorabilia to the envelope as well.

HOW TO USE THE PHOTO JOURNAL

April is Stress Awareness Month and with the chaos of everyday life, we sometimes neglect our own wellbeing. Journaling has been proven to be a successful method to release stress. However, we understand that sometimes it’s not easy to just start writing (this is where we come in). Our guided journals are the perfect place to begin. With different themes and guided prompts, our journals help you get started.

To help guide the way, our Squad is here to share how they stay consistent and use their journals to unwind.

bbalteschule Guided Journals give me time each morning and night to reflect on gratitude and take my mind off the things I’m stressed about.

I love that there is a page for weekly gratitude and reflections. Writing down affirmations and things I’m looking forward to at the beginning of the week helps me focus on staying positive and reminds me that I can conquer the week ahead!

What’s great about this gratitude guided journal is that it has sections for the morning and night for you to write about how you’re feeling. The prompts make it easy to journal each day and it doesn’t take too much time at all! I enjoy having prompts already on the pages to help guide my thoughts.

Of course, I have to decorate the pages with some stickers! Seeing inspirational quotes is such a mood-lifter during stressful times.

I've always enjoyed journaling and this new Mood Tracker Journal is AMAZING! (be sure to sign up to be notified when this Happy Classic Mood Tracker Journal is back in stock!)

It's important to be in touch with our feelings and, during times of uncertainty, it's good to have a safe space to write down our thoughts. And the best thing about this beautiful yellow journal is that it also prompts you to draw, which has always been such a good therapy for me, while giving you the space to customize it in a way that represents you.

On this weekly view page, I dug into the new Bold and Blush and Color Story sticker books to recreate this black and pink design while adding quotes that make me feel happy.

Guided journals have been an important part of my overall health journey these last two years. Showing gratitude has been proven to release dopamine and serotonin in our brain, which boosts our mood and can help lessen anxiety and stress. Taking time each day to write and reflect has definitely helped to lower my anxiety!

The best tip I can provide is to put your journal in a place that you will use it daily. This could be on your kitchen counter for journaling in the morning, or on your bedside table for journaling before bed. And, of course, if decorating your journal helps you actually use it - decorate it to your heart’s content!

Guided journals have quickly become an essential part of my daily routine. When life begins to feel heavy and dark, the guided journals help me to focus on the positive, giving me a chance to write out gratitude and affirmations on a regular basis. My favorite guided journals leave plenty of room for me to write and express my creativity through color and stickers!

Each evening when I am ready to curl up in front of the TV, I bring a journal, some pens, and a sticker book with me as I de-stress from the day. It gives me a routine that I look forward to and helps me to unwind after a busy day. Plus, there is something so beautiful about being able to look back at past journals and reflect.

No matter what you do, we encourage you to take extra care and focus on finding ways to destress. This can mean taking walks, picking up a new hobby, or anything that allows time for you to take care of yourself. Get more tips and follow us on this self-care journey @the_happy_planner.

Introducing our NEW Happy Home line featuring peel and stick Wallpapers and Wall Decals. Happy Home was designed to help creative minds make inspiring spaces. We were inspired by our planning community and all the beautiful spaces you’ve shared with us over the years. We LOVE seeing your DIY projects and planner rooms, so we’ve decided to create something special that fuels our mutual passion for expressing creativity!

GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES

  • Wallpaper or decals of choice
  • Cleaning cloth or sponge
  • Mild cleanser
  • Pencil
  • Straightedge/ruler
  • Plastic smoothing tool
  • Utility knife

wallpaper rolls

STEP 1: PREPARE YOUR SURFACE

Get your wall ready by removing outlet covers, light switch plates, and anything else that might get in the way. Next, clean the surface with a cloth/sponge and use a mild cleanser. Wait until your surface is completely dry (about 24 hours to be safe) to move onto application.

STEP 2: CREATE A GUIDELINE

Whether you choose to apply your wallpaper vertically or horizontally, use a pencil and measure a straight edge along your wall (where your first strip should align) to use as a guideline for application. This will make it easier to apply your first strip of wallpaper straight.

STEP 3: WALLPAPER TIME

Begin to unravel your roll and remove the adhesive backing a little at a time. Press and smooth the wallpaper against the wall, peeling the remaining backing as you make your way down. Use your plastic smoothing tool and run it along the wall as you go. Tip: Use downward strokes to get out any air bubbles! When you make your way to the end of the wall, cut the excess of the roll so you can start on your next section.

STEP 4: REPEAT

Align your next roll of wallpaper making sure to match up your design. Slightly overlap to your previous line to ensure there are no gaps between this second application. Use the smoother to flatten the seam as much as possible so you don’t see where the new roll begins. Repeat this step until you’ve completed your desired section!

STEP 5: THE DETAILS

When you get to your wall outlet or light switch, cover the section with the wallpaper and go back to trim the excess when you’ve completed your wall. Be sure to turn off your power before doing this (we don’t want any accidents)! Once complete, you can return the outlet covers and switch light plates. Do one last check for any air bubbles and make sure to smooth those out.

FOR WALL DECALS

This will be a similar process! Be sure to clean your desired surface as you would for the wallpaper. Then peel and stick the decal and be sure to remove any air bubbles along the way.
